Like all Bueschers, the left hand pinkie keys are noticeably heavier than on modern saxes. I’m sure that someone with smaller hands, or who played the instrument a lot could compensate, but I play alto the least of all my saxes, so I want an instrument that just fits me. I play in a sax quartet that plays entirely on Buescher instruments, and my soprano is a true tone. I shall be very sorry to sell this sax, but it just doesn’t fit my big hands - the side keys are low (though they can be raised with extenders) and the pinkie keys are too close for me - I hit the edges of the keys instead of the middle. Most, but not all, of the pads have the original Buescher snap-on resonators. Some of the other pads are old, and will need replacing fairly soon, but it plays fine. I had this instrument serviced last year and I have recently had 4 pads replaced.
